Three important questions to ask yourself when making a donation to the S.P. Charleston Memorial Scholarship Fund?

1. How will my donation be spent?

Donations and contributions go directly to scholarships.  Board members are assessed an amount that is sufficient to handle administration and fundraising expenses.

2. What will be the impact of my donation?

In 2022, the S.P. Charleston Memorial Scholarship Fund awarded more than $4,000 in scholarships. Since 2011,  52 scholarships totaling $42,800.00 have been awarded to deserving minority students at Carver High School.  Past recipients are attending or have attended:  the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State University, Albany State, Tuskegee University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, the U.S. Naval Academy, Georgia Military College and Columbus Technical College, to name a few.

3. Why College/University or Technical School?

A post-secondary education is not only important because it leads to higher wages over a lifetime, It also broadens the scope of opportunities available after graduation. A quick look at the backgrounds of today's leaders shows that post-secondary graduates are more likely to attain positions of influence at the local, national, and international levels. Want to lead a city, a county, or the nation? A post-secondary education provides the foundation. Are you interested in helping others? You can have a bigger impact if you've gone to a college/university, or technical school.
